Sharwanand New Movie DVD Out WithOut THEATRICAL RELEASE
South Indian top industry Kollywood had become place for a surprised incident. Director Cheran (Na Autograph Sweet Memories fame) had taken a shocking decision to sell his movie with DVD prints, without theatrical release. This news spread viral in all industries, producers are discussing about this topic with huge curiosity.
Director not purchased DVD for high price. He just priced Rs 50 per DVD.Interestingly this idea worked out and given profit to him. In the first attempt printed 10 lakh copies sold out and got order for more 15 lakh copies. Now movie unit busy in printing and distributing this DVD copies.
The reason behind selling DVD before theatrical release is lack of screens. Just like Telugu, Tamil also had monopoly and manipulations in exhibitors. Maximum theatres are in few persons hands, so it’s hard to get screen to exhibit movies. Cheran directed JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai ( Telugu version of Yemito Ee Maaya) had made long back, but not release with unavailable of screens in state.
He had waited for right time to release, but no one concerned to give theatres for release. With all these incidents, Cheran decided to print DVD and sell.If all 25 lakh copies sold, he will get nearly 12 crore rupees, where it made with budget of not crossing Rs. 5 crores. Everyday new thought and concept is coming from industries. Let see how his idea will work for other movies.
